Tuesday, August 10, 2021. Director General Pak-EPA visited the Multi-Professional Cooperative Housing Society (MPCHS), Sector B-17, Islamabad and enquired about the status of Sewage Treatment Plant and Solid Waste Management of the housing scheme. It was observed during the surprise visit of DG Pak-EPA that the MPCHS was throwing their municipal waste water directly into the Nullas (Natural Streams) without any treatment while violating the Section 11 of PEPA'97. Since the housing scheme was started in 2007, but still the management of MPCHS failed to install the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP). Their untreated sewage water is polluting the water channels of the city. The MPCHS also lacks in solid waste management, despite having the facility of Integrated Solid Waste Management (ISWM). The solid waste of the society is not being even collected and treated appropriately as per guidelines of PAK-EPA on Solid Waste Management. Keeping above violations in view, the DG Pak-EPA summoned the management of MPCHS and issued the legal notice as permissible under the Law.
