Environmental Monitoring Team of Pak-EPA Conducted Inspections of Hospitals in Islamabad

Islamabad, August 25, 2025 – Environmental Monitoring Team (EMT) of Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency (Pak-EPA) conducted an inspection to hospitals in Islamabad, to assess compliance with the Hospital Waste Management Rules under the Pakistan Environmental Protection Act, 1997.
During the visit, EMT monitored key aspects of hospital waste management practices, including the segregation of waste at source, internal transportation methods, handling and storage of solid infectious waste.
The inspection aimed to ensure that all hospitals are adhering to the guidelines laid out in the Hospital Waste Management Rules. These rules are designed to minimize environmental and health risks associated with improper disposal of hospital waste.
Pak-EPA emphasized that any non-compliance identified during these visits will be dealt with strictly in accordance with the provisions of the PEPA Act, 1997.
