Senate Standing Committee on Climate Change visited Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency

Senate Standing Committee on Climate Change visited Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency (Pak-EPA) on 9th December, 2021to understand the Agency’s role and functions in the monitoring and control of Islamabad's air quality.
The Senate Committee was shown around Pak-EPA’s CLEAN laboratory, and also checked the Agency’s fixed and mobile ambient air monitoring stations. The Data Surveillance Room of Pak-EPA was also visited, wherein Senators were demonstrated how Pak-EPA virtually monitors industrial emissions from steel furnaces in Islamabad. 
Members of the Standing Committee on Climate Change that visited Pak-EPA included Senator Seemi Ezdi, Senator Taj Haider, Senator Faisal Javed, Senator Muhammad Humayun Mohmand, Senator Keshoo Bai, Senator Khalid Ateeb, and Senator Abida Muhammad Azeem.
The Senate Committee was briefed by Sikandar Qayyum, Secretary Ministry of Climate Change, and Farzana Altaf Shah, Director General, Pak-EPA. Among other participants, Director General (Environment), Ministry of Climate Change, and senior officials of Pak-EPA and Ministry were also present. The briefing was also attended by media representatives.
