Pak-EPA and Islamabad Police Conduct Vehicular Emission Testing on Islamabad Expressway
The Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency (Pak-EPA), in collaboration with the Islamabad Police, conducted a vehicular emission testing activity along with the islamabad Expressway. Islamabad expressway is a major entry point for heavy traffic into islamabad, and serves as a crucial link for both local and transit traffic, including goods and passenger vehicles. The initiative was part of ongoing efforts to control air pollution in urban areas. During the operation, the Environmental Monitoring Team (EMT) of Pak-EPA tested the emissions of 60 different vehicles. Of these, 17 vehicles were challaned, and 10 were issued warnings for exceeding the permissible limits of smoke emissions as defined under NEQS guidelines.
