Enforcement Action Against Single-Use Plastic Bags at Tarlai Kalan, Islamabad

   

Enforcement Team of the Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency (Pak-EPA) carried out an inspection at Tarlai Kalan, Islamabad, on 29 January 2026 as part of its ongoing efforts to implement and enforce the ban on single-use plastic bags within the Islamabad Capital Territory.

During the inspection, Monitoring Team identified multiple violations of the prevailing regulations prohibiting the use of plastic bags. Approximately 45 kilograms of single-use plastic bags were confiscated from various vendors. Warning notices were issued to the violators, instructing them to immediately discontinue the use, sale, and distribution of banned plastic bags and to shift towards environmentally friendly alternatives.

Pak-EPA will continue to conduct regular inspections and enforcement operations in markets and commercial areas to ensure strict compliance with environmental laws and the effective implementation of plastic bag regulations.
