MS Farzana Altaf Shah, Director General Pak-EPA chaired the Technical Session on compliance of Minamata Convention in Pakistan, particularly the role of dermatologists and regulatory authorities regarding impacts of skin whitening creams with mercury on skins. She emphasised on strict enforcement on Minamata Convention starting from Islamabad. Dr. Zaigham Abbas, Director (Lab/NEQS) Pak EPA about the successful implementation of Minamata Convention, especially phasing out of mercury from chlor- alkali industries and lighting industries in Pakistan. He also shared the execution of different mercury related projects in Pakistan.
