Pak-EPA Inspects Heavy-Duty Vehicles at NUST Main Campus

Islamabad, November 7, 2025

To enforce the National Environmental Quality Standards (NEQS) for motor vehicle exhaust and noise in Islamabad Capital Territory, the Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency (Pak-EPA) conducted a targeted inspection of heavy-duty diesel vehicles at NUST Main Campus, H-12.
The activity was led by Mr. Binyameen, Deputy Director (R&I), under the guidance of the Director General, Pak-EPA, and focused on vehicles including buses, coaches, and bowser tankers. Most vehicles inspected were found compliant with NEQS smoke opacity limits, while a few required maintenance and tuning to meet standards.
It was noted that NUST has outsourced part of its transport fleet to private vendors; Pak-EPA will inspect these vehicles in coordination with NUST management at a later date.
This monitoring drive forms part of Pak-EPA’s ongoing efforts to reduce vehicular emissions, curb smog, and improve Islamabad’s air quality through collaboration with public and private stakeholders.
