PAK-EPA ENFORCEMENT TEAM ALONG WITH ISLAMABAD CAPITAL ADMINISTRATION TEAM CRACKED DOWN ON SINGLE-USE PLASTICS IN ISLAMABAD.

Islamabad, December 17, 2024 – The Enforcement Team II of the Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency (Pak-EPA) along with ICT Administration carried out a field operation against single-use plastic items and polythene bags in F-10 Markaz, Islamabad.

During the inspection, the teams visited various local establishments, including bakeries (such as Fresco bakers etc) wholesale plastic bag suppliers (e.g., Al noor Traders and other local plastic and packaging item vendors), hotels ( syrian shawarma, tamoori roll paratha, orient hotel, malang jan foods, quetta hotels) as and dry fruit and vegetables merchants. Approximately 28 kilograms of single-use plastics were confiscated in the operation.

In addition, fines totaling Rs 10,000 were imposed on shop owners and sellers, and 8 warning notices were issued to sellers, shop owners, and consumers in violation of the regulations. This action is part of Pak-EPA's ongoing enforcement of the Single-Use Plastics (Prohibition) Regulations 2023 within the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) limits.
