Enforcement Action Against Single-Use Plastics in Bara Kahu
In a renewed effort to combat plastic pollution, the Implementation Team of the Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency (Pak-EPA) conducted an inspection in the Bara Kahu area to enforce the Single-Use Plastics (Prohibition) Regulations, 2023.
The operation targeted a range of commercial outlets, including sweet shops, bakeries, general traders, and fruit sellers. During the inspection, the team identified multiple violations involving the use of prohibited single-use plastic items.
09 warning and compliance notices were issued to offending businesses. The team also confiscated approximately 15 to 20 kilograms of single-use plastic, aimed at preventing its further circulation in the local market. Traders were cautioned to switch to approved alternatives, as repeated violations may result in stricter legal measures.
