A targeted vehicular emissions monitoring operation has been conducted at a university in Islamabad

The Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency (Pak-EPA), under the directions of the Director General, conducted a targeted vehicular emissions monitoring operation at a university in Islamabad to ensure compliance with the National Environmental Quality Standards (NEQS) for motor vehicle exhaust and noise.

During the inspection, several light, medium, and heavy-duty diesel vehicles were found non-compliant with NEQS smoke opacity limits. The university administration was instructed to immediately maintain its fleet and have all vehicles tested at Pak-EPA–certified environmental laboratories.

This activity is part of Pak-EPA’s ongoing efforts, in collaboration with public and private sector organizations, to control vehicular air pollution and improve air quality within the Islamabad Capital Territory. Pak-EPA reaffirms its commitment to strict enforcement of NEQS and continued engagement with stakeholders to reduce emissions and curb smog in the region
