Pak-EPA Conducts Targeted Vehicular Emission Testing Operation in Sector I-11
Islamabad – 09 December 2025
To ensure compliance with the National Environmental Quality Standards (NEQS) for motor vehicle exhaust and noise, the Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency (Pak-EPA) conducted a targeted inspection of diesel engine vehicles across the Islamabad Capital Territory.
The inspection was carried out by a Pak-EPA team in coordination with the Islamabad Traffic Police and the Islamabad Transport Authority. The checkpoint was set up at a key congestion point on Service Road, Sector I-11, near the Carriage Factory.
A considerable number of light, medium, and heavy-duty diesel vehicles were found non-compliant with NEQS smoke opacity standards. Violators were issued fines/challans on site and instructed to undertake immediate vehicle maintenance. The Islamabad Transport Authority was also requested to impound several severely non-compliant vehicles for legal action.
