PAK-EPA ENFORCEMENT TEAM, ALONG WITH THE ISLAMABAD CAPITAL ADMINISTRATION TEAM, CRACKED DOWN ON SINGLE-USE PLASTICS IN ISLAMABAD.
The Enforcement Team of the Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency (Pak-EPA) carried out a field operation against single-use plastic items and polythene bags in G-7 Markaz and allied Market, Islamabad. During the inspection, the teams visited various local establishments, including bakeries, wholesale plastic bag suppliers, hotels, dry fruit, Butchers, and vegetable merchants. Approximately 150 kilograms of single-use plastics were confiscated in the operation. In addition, fines totaling Rs 10,000 were imposed on shop owners and sellers, and 8 warning notices were issued to sellers, shop owners, and consumers in violation of the regulations. This action is part of Pak-EPA's ongoing enforcement of the Single-Use Plastics (Prohibition) Regulations 2023 within the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) limits.
