Targeted monitoring of diesel engine vehicles (buses, trucks, coasters, hiaces, pickups, tankers, etc.) was conducted to check vehicular emissions, especially smoke opacity. A significant proportion of vehicles were found non-compliant, and violators were fined and directed to undertake immediate maintenance.

Furthermore, based on the continuous monitoring exercises, Pak-EPA is engaging other stakeholders (Islamabad transport authority, Islamabad traffic police, excise and taxation department) for taking prompt measures to control air pollution, including smog, and ensure compliance with the NEQs for motor vehicle exhaust and noise.
