Islamabad, 28th October 2024: The Environmental Monitoring Team of the Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency (Pak-EPA), under the supervision of Dr. Zaigham Abbas, Director of Lab/NEQS, conducted a monitoring exercise on vehicular emissions from heavy transport vehicles at the entry point of Mandi Morr, Sector I-11, Islamabad. In collaboration with Environmental Services Pakistan Private Limited (ESPAK), the Environmental Monitoring Team (EMT) assessed emissions from various vehicles to help mitigate SMOG and improve air quality. The monitoring focused on key pollution indicators, including carbon monoxide (CO) levels, noise emissions, smoke color, and the presence of black soot carbon emissions. As a result, 36 vehicles were fined for exceeding National Environmental Quality Standard (NEQS) for Vehicular emissions limit. This initiative is part of Pak-EPA’s broader efforts to reduce SMOG and fog in Islamabad and ensure cleaner air for the city's residents.
