Pak-EPA Enforcement Team Cracks Down on Single-Use Plastic in Islamabad

Islamabad, May 21, 2024 - On the directions of Director General Pak-EPA, and under the. Supervision of Dr. Zaigham Abbas Director(Lab/NEQS) the Pak-EPA Enforcement Team conducted a field operation against single-use plastic items in Khanna Pul and Burma Town Islamabad.
During the inspection, the team visited local Pharmacies and Medical Stores, wholesale shops, and cash-and-carry stores, and confiscated about 10 kilograms of polythene bags. Additionally the Team issued warnings to the 10 violators found in non-compliance with the Single-Use Plastic (Prohibition) Regulation 2023.This action is part of Pak-EPA's ongoing efforts to enforce the Single-Use Plastic (Prohibition) Regulations 2023 within the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) limits.
The Enforcement Team is actively visiting different zones of Islamabad to ensure compliance with the regulations and prevent the use of harmful single-use plastic items. This initiative aims to protect the environment and promote sustainable practices in the capital city.
Pak-EPA urges all stakeholders, including businesses and citizens, to cooperate in implementing the single-use plastic ban and adopt eco-friendly alternatives.
