The Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency is spearheading a clean-up drive on Margalla Hills Trail 2, Japanese Park and Trail 5. The World Environment Day celebrations kick off in Islamabad. World Environment Day, held annually on June 5th, and celebrations are underway in the city. On June 1st and second, EPA plans clean-up activities as a key kickoff event. Pak EPA actively organizes an environment day encouraging participation and fostering a culture of environmental responsibility. The primary purpose of a trash cleanup drive is to remove litter, single-use plastic, and pamper from the Margallah Hills, improving the appearance and environmental health of the Margallah Hills National Park and important solutions to solve contemporary challenges such as climate change. A clean environment is more pleasant to live in and visit, enhancing the overall quality of life for residents and visitors.
As climate change worsens, this cleanup drive reminds us that a clean environment is crucial for the health of our ecosystem. It is also an opportunity to encourage individuals, organizations, academia, and communities to take the initiative and engage in sustainable practices. By focusing on effective waste management through proper waste disposal, recycling, and responsible consumption. Pak EPA and volunteers collected more than 100 kgs trash, plastic waste including medical waste from the Margalla Hills in Islamabad during a clean-up drive organized by the EPA in connection with the theme of World Environment Day 2025 “eliminate plastic pollution”. The cleanup drive also addresses threats to the Margalla Hills, including deforestation, encroachments, and littering.
