PESHAWAR AMBIENT AIR QUALITY MONITORING VISIT

Ambient Air Quality Monitoring is an integral part of an effective Air Quality Management System. In order to take actions to reduce exposure to air pollution, and associated health impacts, it is essential to know the sources and activities contributing at local levels of air pollution. On official request of Director General EPA-KPK, Federal Environmental Protection Agency (Islamabad) mobilized the Mobile Air Quality Monitoring Station (AQMS) along with EPA team headed by Dr. Mohsina Zubair to Peshawar. EPA AQMS system placed at six (06) different locations for four (04) days 30.12.2021 to 2.1.2022 (Hayatabad industrial area, PDA plaza, food department, EPA Khyber road, and NTFP) were selected for ambient air quality monitoring during the winter/smog season of Peshawar city.

Peshawar air quality monitoring started from Hayatabad industrial area, in this industrial area chip board, ceramics and steel industries etc. located and causing the air pollution. Initially mobile AQMS deployed at M/s Northern Bottling Co. (Pvt) Ltd, at this occasion Director General EPA KPK, Mr. Shafaullah, Media and Dr. Muhammad Nafees (HOD), of Environmental Sciences Department, University of Peshawar, with M Phil environmental science students visited and observed the measuring levels of the main air pollutants. Chief analyst EPA KPK Mr. Muhammad Irshad, and Dr. Khaista Gul supported to carry out the AQMS mobilization and operation during the entire air quality monitoring.
